Re: Looking up in the move to Vegas...

I happen to agree with both of you re SportsBooks.
The floor space would be much more valuable with slots than with what's there now. If it ever gets to hotel room betting, I think it will die except for big events like the Superbowl, World Series, NCAA B-Ball, etc. for there is NO fun betting on a game from your room.....maybe alone and with no free drinks!! All of the fun for the tourists is the atmosphere of the big screens and the "stadium like" atmosphere that the bigger books.....Hilton, Caesars, etc. afford to the customers. Without the "experience", they might as well stop taking the wagers for I feel the handle would drop so drastically, it would not make any sense to put whatever cash it would cost the casinos to keep it afloat. Now a fully automated book (like in most racetracks today) where you just get a voucher, stick it in a machine similar to an ATM, and make your own betting choices is another story! Now THAT'S a real possibility!!
All of the simulcast areas in AC casinos have these self betting machines for horseracing and it's only a small addition to the software to include a betting menu for sports!!! I guess I'll have to find another "non-stressfull" part time job to keep me busy once I make the move !!
How about a Pai-Gow Poker or Three Card Poker dealer................
