Re: Las Vegas Matchbook Question....

Well I can tell you that they are most likely from sometime in the 70's to early 80's because the phone number is for Ramada's Central Reservation, As you all may or may not know the Tropicana was a wholly owned subsidary of Ramada Inns Inc. until the early '80s when Ramada filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection, As a result Ramada Inns diversified itself completely of it's gambling assets. They split the company into two separate businesses Ramada Hotels which concentrated on the core hotel business and Aztar Corporation which concentrated on the gambling assets including the Tropicana Las Vegas, Tropicana Atlantic City and the franchised Ramada Express Hotel/Casino in Laughlin.

Author's Notes:

1) After the diversification Ramada held NO assets in Aztar Corporation it was run as a separate publicly traded corporation.

2) The telephone number for Ramada is no longer valid for booking rooms at the Tropicana in Las Vegas or any other Aztar property, Reservation have to be made directly with the property.
