WinCard chips come in a WinCard package, a program aimed at biginning table game players. Usually an unadvertised program not available in all casinos, you sign up for these at the slot club counter, a once-in-a-specific period benefit. The slot club will give you a voucher that you redeem at the cashiers cage. The most common deal is $15 worth of No Cash Value chips for $10. The chips come in denominations of "1" or "5" depending on the casino minimums in effect at the tables. You are given a instruction booklet with some strategy devices (junk!) and the chips. You can bet these chips on even money bets at the tables. If you win, you get paid in real chips, lose and you lose your chips. I wanted the Four Queens 5 chips so I paid $10 and got three 5's, I bet one getting the value of a $5 bet (I lost) and kept the other two figuring I was out of pocket $5 for two chips. At the Edgewater in Laughlin, I lost twice but was up $85 on my winCard bets by that time and still ended up with five 1 Wincard chips. Your milage may vary depending on luck, dealer and pit critter.
