I also received my $5.00 C&J Lesson...
In Response To: Re: I received CJ... ()

in the mail today.

And yes, the hats do "Shine". I held it up against the light along side a new Paris Casino house chip, and the difference is as clear as night and day. The C&J turns black and has a mirror like surface while the Paulson at the same angle to the light has an almost linen like texture.

But I am now convinced there is NO difference between C&J's and SOME Paulson H&C's from the same era of C&J's breakup (60's). There is NO difference in the "shine" of the $5.00 lesson chip on the left and the $1.00 Mint on the right. It's hard to see "shine" in the scan, but you get my drift. They both have the mirror like finish when held at a certain angle to the light. The Mint chip even more then the lesson chip.

Jim you mentioned in a thread on the CC>CC board that the C&J mold traveled around a bit after the break up of C&J. I wonder if there is any way to find out what chips were made with that mold? I bet I can name a few...

BTW I really like the story of the "Risky Business" practices of Pat Sullivan (follow the link below). That's the kind of stuff that really makes chip collecting so interesting. My mom just doesn't have the same cast of characters in her Beanie Baby collection!
