The reason for not mentioning ...

... names yet is that, so far, I have received only second hand information which is not verified.

Furthermore, I have made confidentiality a basic part of the claims process so as to encourage people to come forward when there are problems.

We have seen many complaints about people on the boards jumping to conclusions about things and acting as "judge & jury" and so on.

This situation is perhaps the most serious ever presented to our hobby. I think it is imperative that it be dealt with in a professional manner, by everyone concerned.

Until I have sufficient proof, I think it would be a mistake to mention any names. In the meanwhile, I agree with Gene's advice -- stay away from brass cores until we know what's going on.

Knowingly selling counterfeit chips IS a violation of the hobby as well as the club's bylaws -- and is almost certainly criminal as well. We need to deal with this carefully and with patience.

Anyone who has information about possible counterfeit brass cores, please let me know by email. Thank you. ----- jim o\-S
