I had a couple of hours to kill after the convention and before my flight home, so I decided to see why the Ultra New Town Tavern was the toughest casino in Nevada for chip harvesting. The casino is in North Las Vegas on Jackson Avenue, only about 5 minutes from the downtown Las Vegas area. I expected it to be a tough neighborhood, but I have been through the worst in New York - Harlem, South Bronx and the Bushwich area of Brooklyn to name a few and thought that North LV couldn't be any worse. Especially since it was still day time. Well, when I arrived at the casino, I found that my expectations were not only met, but vastly exceeded. I drove by a couple of times and there was no way I was getting out of the car.

There were individuals hanging around all over the outside of the casino. A couple of them approached cars that stopped in front of the casino, appearing to be selling drugs. Others were drinking liquor out of paper bags. All of these individuals outside this casino looked like they had just come from an appearance on the TV show COPS. Even though there was parking right in front of the casino, I was not getting out. From what was going on outside the casino, I couldn't imagine what the inside was like. I'm sure that had I got out of the car and went into the casino, it would have been followed by a trip to the hospital or the morgue. It didn't look like it is a friendly place for anyone from outside the neighborhood.

Regardless of what anyone paid for a chip from this casino, it was worth it.
