LV Hilton had 5000 chips made and issued in April 1997.
Paul-Son had a deal with the 6 casinos that issued these chips. Any left after 90 days could be returned for full purchased price.

The Hilton returned 3,100 and they were destroyed in July 1997. 1,900 were taken from the Hilton.
As far as I know there was never a recall. No need to recall, 1,900 were gone. This left a total of 1,000 complete sets as Bally's only made 1,000 of their chips. (6 different) Ballys was the smart one. .

Fiesta destroyed 3,400 on 9/9/97
Arizona Charlies destroyed 4,000 in July 97
Imperial Palace destroyed 3,483 in Aug 97
Bally's destroyed NONE

The Sahara did not return their leftovers within the 90 days but did get an extension. The cage manager told me they were going to issue a 120 day recall on the 1,500 or so, that was missing, then destroy them. She felt this was the only way to comply with NV gaming regs on the chips. (Not true but I did not stick my nose in her business) I could never get a followup from anyone at the Sahara, so not sure of the status of the 5,000 they bought. BUT, I am betting it is close to the 1,500 that was missing at the time I talked to her.
