Re: Convention Chip Security

Newer collectors must remember that you'll be in
one of the highest crime cities in the country
where every hawk in town knows what's taking place
that weekend. They also know that chip collector
are more relaxad than coin collectors.

Don't be a target by using coin cases to cary your
inventory, and use caution when on the floor
visiting tables, as all an artist needs if for you
and a dealer to be distracted and turn your head
for him to make his move.

Also be cautious of passers-by offering you chips
in the hotel or on the show midway that are in
Mylar holders, as what may seem like a perfectly
good chip can easilly be switched when you're
looking through your Chip Rack to find the value,
as when mounted in a Mylar you'll not be able
to tell if the chip has a fracture; a lifting
inlay; a warp, or even a glued on color photocopy
of an inlay.

Even at dealers' tables caution should be used, as
ffactured and cracked chips can be common, especially when the weight of several album pages flop back down on the last page viewed.

If you think crooks are not out and about during
coin a chip shows, just read the [PLEASE HELP]
link atop this page.
