Richard, I'll try to translate the posts by Gene & Rich. (They are both good guys & knowlegable collectors, but just being a bit too succinct if you weren't familiar with what they were saying...I think).

Your Swede's chip appears to be the chip listed in the new 7th ed. "The Chip Rack" as a 1960's era Swede's chip from Reno. The colors & mold match up to the listing, as you have already discovered. (It also appears that Swede's is a new addition to TCR, as it wasn't in previous editions.)

One way to firm up the attribution of your chip as being from Swede's in Reno is to get the manufacturing record from T.R. King & Co., the distributor of small-crown mold chips. They are still in business in Los Angeles. To to http://www.trking.com -- you will find their phone number at the bottom of their home page. If you call Dennis O'Neill, the general manager, and tell him you are a chip collector that wants info on your Swede's $5 chip, he will probably provide the info to you for a price (Gene quoted $3; Rich quoted $5 or $10 with the card. I would suggest you spring for the copy of the card to be mailed to you. $10 is cheap if it confirms the chip as a $500 level chip!) You will need to send send your $10 to T.R. King after confirming that they will look it up for you.

Ideally, the card should confirm a delivery address to Reno, and show the same style hot-stamp as on your chip. I'm not familiar with Swede's, but then I wasn't around Reno in the 60's. BTW, the Fuller's Index shows Swede's in Reno as a club licensed for slots & 21, so it is reasonable to expect some chips existed from there. It also means it was a "real" casino, instead of a back-room/unliscensed/ or home-game chip.
