Re: No mystery here gang....
In Response To: Clarification... ()

The following paragraph has appeared on the last six or more Editions of my Atlantic City Catalog and is consistent with other similar notices published in chip and token publications. Since ICG got into the act, I've modified the notice even finer on my 2001 Edition which simply states;

"Permission to disclose the enclosed information is granted provided references to the catalog listings published herein be referred to as "Black's Numbers". Permission is not granted for commercial use of "Black's #'s or to photocopy or electronically transmit or produce actual catalog pages without the specific written permission of the author.

The above does not mean that my catalog numbers may not be referenced in a bb post. Quite the contrary. On the other hand, if someone is planning to place a for sale ad in the club magazine of A.C. chips using my numbering system, I think it is a matter of courtesy to make mention that "Black's numbers" are being used. Similarly, an A.C. chip being offered for sale on ebay with my catalog number, should state that Black's number(s) is being used just so the potential bidder knows exactly what chip is being offered and what reference to consult should additional information be sought.

Over the past several years there have been a few occassions where a few individuals have been photocopying my chip reference catalogs and selling bootleg copies, or portions of my catalog. Just a month ago, it was brought to my attention that my out-of-print Puerto Rico catalog has been copied in black and white and is being sold in Puerto Rico for more than what I was selling the catalog in full color. That problem has since been resolved after legal action was threatened.

ICG does not have my permission to use "Black's Numbers" on their slabs. In addition to the notice on my front cover, I've also notified ICG via certified mail that they are prohibited from using "Black's Numbers". Let them devise their own numbering system and publish their own catalog and copyright it.
