If you want to read a great (and true) sea story, one which a Coastie would be sure to appreciate, pick up the book "The Terrible Hours" by Peter Maas. It's the story of Swede Momsen and the rescue of the surviving crew members of the submarine Squalus, which sank off the New England coast in 1939.

The rescue itself was incredible -- and what Momsen went through his entire career to make it possible is enough to bring tears to your eyes.
