Re: Resorts AC RES1 chip Question

Leo; I'm not a printer by trade, and just expressing an opinion without facts, but I believe that application of the red denomination imprint on sheets of inlays required a second pass through the press 20 years ago... and still may be true today. The same basic inlay design is identical on all Resorts denominations, whether they be round, hub or scalloped. The only difference is the 2nd pass for the red color $1, $2.50, $5, $20, $25, $100, $500 denomination imprints on the inlays. The "mold" which produces the blank chip has nothing to do with the center inlays which are applied later in the manufacturing process.

I agree, I would keep it in my collection as an interesting variation.... similar to an off-center inlay.... which some collectors looking for perfect centering turn their noses up as a reject and insist on a price discount. grin
