I remember a while back I think it was an expensive baseball card was auctioned on ebay. The end of the ebay auction, however, did not determine the final selling price. What happened was the winning ebay bid became the opening bid at a live auction at one of the major auction houses.

I think a similar thing could have been done here. Of course Jim would have had to pass it by ebay first and pay ebay it's percentage on the ebay auction but Jim could have gotten the benefits of both ebay and the club auction.
