I couldn't resist a $2 SLAB

Yes I bought my first SLAB ever today.

The dealer mentioned he is loosing money selling them at $2 each. Most were graded at 8 or 9.

He had a stack of about 20 all at this price.

I wonder what this card is selling for if it were a MINT GEM 10?

My guess is that this is what it will sooner or later come to for casino/chip token dealers who deal in slabbed items. If it isn't graded to a perfect grade the items won't sell for even the slabbing costs.

BTW, the show was a small one and I found VERY VERY few SLABBED baseball/basketball/football cards. And only three or four slabbed MINT GEM 10's! Which I didn't inquire about. I did ask several dealers about how slabbing is going on in their business and they said it is slowed down considerably. I also got a laugh from them when I mentioned the slabbing of casino chips/tokens.

BTW, there were almost as many BEANIE BABY dealers at the show as there were card dealers and the Beanie dealers looked to be getting more business than the card dealers were..... vbg

OK ICG and PCGS time to start slabbing BEANIE BABIES! vbg
