Re: Posting Ebay Auctions
In Response To: Posting Ebay Auctions ()

Hi Walt,

When someone posts a plethora of notes about their eBay auctions, they catch hell from this BB's regulars. Scanning eBay might be easy if you have an idea of what might tickle your fancy at the click of the search button, but even then, common word searches load lists of stuff that aren't what you are looking for and you will miss chips that you might want if you don't input the right search words, AND I read this BB everyday as do many people. Many of these people don't have the time to do double duty looking for chips that might be specific to their collecting interests in multiple forums except on a limited basis.

While I can't speak for Greg, or suggest how he should run this forum, links to other sites aren't quite the same as banner advertising. He does charge a fee for that. If he were to start trying to charge for links within BB posts, where would you draw the line on what should or shouldn't be considered a pay-per-insertion link? A lot of people include a link to their website in all of their posts, and these sites often offer chips for sale. You can just as easily not click on a website link as you can ignore a BB post that is clearly a promo pointer to the author's auction lots.

Greg knows what he's doing. ....and he knows who to charge for what.
