You bring up a couple of good points for discussion.

First, regardless of how you feel (it was right or wrong), I'm not sure I see the difference in responding to an existing thread or starting a new one. Is there really a difference?

Second, my theory on E-bay is that you should put something on there with a minimum such that you'd be happy to sell it for that or anything more. If you start it too low, you take your chances. If you start it too high and no one bids, shame on you for being greedy.

That said, I don't see a whole lot wrong with posting messages regarding other sources of chips. Okay, I'm sure if I just received an obscene amount of money for a chip/chip set and had another to sell, I'd wish everyone would keep quiet. But I'd be greedy then, wouldn't I?

This is also the board that jumped all over a particular person for his 3-day Thunderbird auction during the convention last year. I seem to recall a lot of people thought it was a good idea to post alternative info then.

As primarily a collector, I guess I'd rather see messages like Josh's. I could have been suckered by the Thunderbird thing last year and I'd have been quite upset. I tend to think the winner of the Hard Rock auction will be quite upset when he stumbles over Josh's web page in a few days/weeks.

That said... you shouldn't bid on an E-bay auction unless you really want the item for that price, even if you find them for a dime a dozen the next day. That said... really wanting something for a particular price depends on its perceived value. That said... hmmmm this argument doesn't seem to have an end, does it?
