Primary thanks goes to Gene Trimble for arranging the tournament at the Orleans this year. The tournament will be run similar to last year, but even bigger & better.
Last year, we had 8 tables and 92 players/alternates seated among a busy Excalibur card room. It was lots of fun, but a bit chaotic among the public players.
This year, we will have 10 tables and seats for 110 players in an upstairs convention room at the Orleans, just for us!
Yes, we again will have a 5-piece custom made set of Paulson tournament chips -- designed by Dick Covington this year.
You can pre-order extra sets of chips by mail (including payment in advance) or buy sets of chips at the convention.
Also, I'm planning on sitting out this year, to help with the distribution of chips after players bust out, plus managing the consolation chip pool and bounty chip programs. Also, give Gene a chance to play if he wants to.
We didn't really get the consolation chip pool and bounty programs off the ground last year (my fault), with all the other activities going on in the poker room. But I'm making it a priority to see that those that want to participate in these optional programs can do so this year. So... think about what chip you want to bring to add to the consolation pool -- make it an interesting chip from your favorite area of collecting, not just a common rack chip from a LV casino. Also, think about which players you'd like to put a bounty on!
I think it will be a fun tournament again this year. Can't wait till May 31.
