Latest on Outpost, San Ramon, CA

In case anyone else is keeping score, I stopped in at the Outpost in San Ramon this afternoon. Had one Omaha game going. Place had been closed down in November by the California Attorney General, but a judge ordered it reopened so it's back in business, at least for now. The Outpost was started in 1975 in Pacheco, Calif. by John and Sylvia Schireck. When they got divorced in 1979 John kept the Outpost name and moved 15 miles or so south to San Ramon. Sylvia stayed in Pacheco and started Diamond Syl's, which closed in 1996. Shireck sold out to Mark Luciano a couple years ago, but still owns the land and building and after Luciano took over new chips were issued. Now Shireck and Luciano are feuding, I'm told. Something to do with a hotel company that wanted to buy the property. At any rate, how long the Outpost will continue as a cardroom is questionable. By the way, the chips in the scan showing the various incarnations are available for trade for other California chips I need.
