I have not said a word about slabbing since I really did not have an opinion. I figure that if you have a chip worth $500 the $10 slabbing cost in minimal. However, my mind was changed yesterday at a flea market. A coin dealer there was giving (apparently good) advise to a customer not to by a certain penny since it was not slabbed. Since it wasn't slabbed he could not tell if it was worth $3 as a MS-65 or worth $25 as a MS-70. I don't ever want to have to pay 10 times as much for a chip because it is not new out of the box but has been played once or twice. I am still not against slabbing per se but I AM against the type of grading systems that they use. I will continue to fight against any grading system that uses more than the 4 or 5 "grades" that we typically talk about.
