I just checked how much space is used up by each of the scans on my site (the small ones, not the large ones you get when you click on the first scan in each row). My California scans averaged 3750 bytes. At this rate you could scan over 13,000 chips. Of course there will be text, lines, etc. I would think 8,000-10,000 chips could be scanned onto one website at zero cost.

I have a couple thousand scans on my site. Space is no excuse.
