A cookie is a small file of information which a website can save on your Hard Drive.

There are main uses for a cookie, some benevolent and some malevolent.

On this site your cookie is what keeps you from having to enter your name and email address everytime you post a message. The first time you eneter it it is stored in your cookie folder (I like to call it the cookie jar) and each time you come back the site reads your cookie and fills in the blanks.

This is a good cookie. Other cookies are used by other sites to track your sufing habits. I call them raisen cookies because I hate raisens. I use a program to keep the bad cookies off as much as possible but still let the good cookies on.
