I went out to Turning Stone Saturday and they were running there first real tournament (they have run much smaller ones for a while) Apparently they had some promotion going to kick off the tournament and if you came in with a coupon from Card Player they gave you $10 in chips for use in the Poker Room. What they were doing or trying to do was use their $2 drop chips as a NCV chip. Dealers were apparently instructed to pull the out of the pots for the rake or to trade them out of the put into their tray. I have no idea who's idea this was but it was pretty bad (unless you are a collector)

In any event, despite the fact that the dealers told me I couldn't buy them from other players I managed to get a bunch out of the room. The bad news is that these chips already have been adopted by people who contacted me over a year ago to get them.

There is another tournament scheduled for 2/17 and I will go to play in it this time. I don't know if they will be running this promotion again, but if so I will liberate more drop chips. If anyone has a cardplayer magazine and they have a coupon for the promotion please let me know. Thanks.
