I am from right accross the river in Newport, KY.
I have collected chips from the area since about 1962.
In 1958 the Saturday Evening Post ran an article saying Newport has 150 casinos. The population of the city was 35,000 at the time.
I have the article.

I knew and played poker with most of the old timers that ran the joints.
When I don't know something about a new illegal chip from the area, there are still enough of them alive that I can usually get some information.

The Linden Bar information can be accredited to my good friend Danny Nason, about 85 years young. You can read about the Nasons on Chequers. Start at part I. There are 5 parts. Their history is fasenating.

Also an old timer emailed right after KY chipper Dave Horn sent me an inquirey on the Linden chip. Quite a coindence. He had stumbled across my articles on Chequers by accident. He had been in the Lindem many times for good food and a little BJ.

The history of our chips is still out there but time is running out. time is our worst enemy at this time.
