Okay here it goes. I know i will probably get some heat for this.
But you know what its my opinion and I have to voice.

Between the Palace Station and me we are spending close to $5,000 to promote this show locally. Which is about 3 times as much as what was spend on the national convention. Just so you can compare.

We all know this show is being promoted in a 2 month notice.
So it was hard to get the word to many out of town chippers, who are not online.
But we tried hard and i think we did pretty good.

So with keeping all this in mind you can imagine we will get many new collectors and expose our hobby to many new people. And i hope we will see many fresh faces at the show.

We all know There has been the slapping war against the anti slapping war been going on for a few weeks now.

And I do admire Steve Soden , Andy Hughes and gene trimble. They did a very good job in organizing a anti slapping campaign. Which presents their views.
And i think they have done everthing in a fine matter. And are doing it in a very professional way. But I have one question :

What the hell where you thinking when designing the logo for your message on your shirts.

I looked at it today for the first time after a few people mentioned it to me.
You litteraly have a guy standing hanging out his DICK and #####ing on a slapped chip. And this is actually a pretty detailed dick. I dunno about this whole thing but was there no better way to get the message accross. I don't care but i think some people will find that offensive. I don't but there many more strict people out there.

Now 2 things that concern me.

#1 We will have many new collectors there, or people who collect but are just finding out about the club and shows. Now I walk into the room and see a bunch of guys walking around with dicks on their shirts. What will i think. What will I think about the club and the people that are in it. Is that the most civilized what they can communicate. Do I really wanna be part if this.?

#2 You guys try to get your message accross. You wanna be heard and be takeing serious. Now on one side their is guys with dicks on their shirts trying to talk to me SERIOUSLY about how bad slapping can be. And why i should stay away from it. And on the other side their is the company who does it. Now they are dressed nice and have samples of their products and talk nicely about it. Not only will ICG be there but i know for a fact, a couple of WELL KNOWN Chip dealers are planning to but out a few slapped chips. I won't mention any names in case they have a change of heart. But these guys will also bring accross their views. Now me the new collector who would i take more seriously. Guys with dicks on their shirts or they guys who are more normal and civilized and want to just make their point. I am sorry to say I would choose the slappers.
The shirst might be funny but it would be hard to take someone very serious.

Now don't get me wrong. I love seeing how chippers are involved and care about their hobby and wanna share their views. But I also think sometimes you might find yourself in a war where you can make a fatal mistake and loose it without the enemy ever fireing a shot. And I feel wearing these shirts might be a fatal mistake.

If i were the comitte i would get together and say. You know what, the shirts were pretty funny in out circles. But maybe that's not the right way to approach the general public about our cause. So lets just cut our loses and we have some nice shirts to wear at home or use them as undershirts. And make flyers and some signs to promote our cause , and just talk to the people and share our views.

I think that be the smart think to do.
