My name is ON the list. I will not have slabbed chips in my collection and will NEVER buy a slabbed chip. As far as banning them from club sponsered shows, auctions, etc., I don't think that's a good idea, why.....well wasn't it a short time ago that the words "exclusion" were used in the topic of National membership in order to be an "official" local chapter?? Many here did not agree with that idea saying it was not good to exclude anyone who wished to collect chips and interact with others of similar interest. Sure, these collectors should be 'encouraged' to join the national and the benefits that go with membership but forcing them to join.....not a good idea.
Same goes for WHAT people collect! I also remember the 'line being drawn' between collectors of house chips and LE's. Remember the Saito Pledge? Bottom line is everyone should be able to collect whatever they wish and as long as it's a casino collectible, the CC>CC or anyone else for that matter has no right to say if you collect, trade or sell XXXXX then you can't be a member of our club! The organization MAY have the right but is it MORALLY right!
At our upcoming convention, one of the educational seminars should be on this very subject.....slabbed chips! Some of our more knowledgeable (in this area) members should be approached to be on the panel to EDUCATE the membership on the "demons" of slabbing and it SHOULD be agressivly advertized by the Club for all to attend. The other side should also be asked to give their views, to be fair. I think that once all the issues are expressed, the membership is smart enough to decide that slabbing is NOT for them and the issue will go away as fast as it arrived for if there's no money for the slabbers to make in chips, they'll move on to something else. The key is the seminar at the Vegas convention.....let's get it on!!!!!!
