Regency, Laughlin $1 and $2; Q and A....

I recently acquired both the $1 and $2 chips of the Regency Laughlin, and I was curious why they issued a $2 denomination. Someone suggested that it was because they may have offered "two dollar" blackjack, but then consistent with that thinking would require a $3 chip for easy payouts on 21.

Anyway, since I picked the chips up in Vegas, and was driving through Laughlin on the way home, I figured I'd stop in at the Regency, ask for an old-timer and ask why they did a $2 chip. The old-timer ended up being the guy at the security desk. He said that the $2 chip was issued only to make money, i.e., a chip for collectors, however, they were actually used on the tables. "Unlike" he went on to offer, "the $1 chip which was also to make money from collectors, but the $1's were never used on the tables."

Interesting, unless you already knew this. One other note of possible interest. The $100's were pulled from use when the craps table was pulled.
