What was this Harrahs $100 used for?

I'm assuming this is N2348, but something just doesn't make sense.

Sometime AFTER they put the brass cores in play in the '80s, Harrah's started using a star for the apostrophe. Sometime BEFORE the replaced the brass with Bud Jones chips, they stopped making chips to be used at both properties.

So... the Chip Rack lists N2348 as a 1970s chip. Were they using the star then? Or was this chip made while the white brass $100s were the current table chip? And if so, for what purpose?

The person I got this chip from suggested it was a prototype, but it appears to have been played. Is this N2348, or a new find?
