Re: The Brighton AC - Question
In Response To: The Brighton AC - Question ()

Gene; It took me awhile to dig them out... but I have The Brighton $100 Fun Nite, the Playboy $100 Fun Nite, the Harrah's At Trump Plaza $100 Fun Nite and $100 Casino Career Institute Gaming School A.C. chips for sale at $10 each, ppd.
Other denominations are priced lower accordingly.

For those not familiar with the Fun Nite chips and their useage .... prior to a new casino opening in Atlantic City the casino is required to conduct a Fun Nite, or dry run, where the public is invited to attend to participate in this shakedown activity.

Upon entering the new casino for the first time, players are invited to purchase paper Fun Nite money at the rate of $5 per $100. All the money collected is donated to a charity, such as the United Way, Seashore Childrens Hospital, etc. The purchased paper money is then taken to the gaming tables where it is exchanged for the Fun Nite chips. The chips are played just like regular bets and pay outs are given just like in a game with "real money" being played. This affords newly licensed dealers the opportunity to show their skills under actual gaming conditions, rather than under controlled school atmosphere.

After several hours of playing with this "funny money" at the tables (slot action is for real) and consuming complimentary beverages from the cocktail waitresses, the public must leave the casino at a certain hour while the gaming regulators, who have been overseeing this whole excercize, reviews the entire operation. From collecting of the paper money in exchange for chips, to bets placed and payoffs made, to toke drops in the tip boxes, to chip-fill deliveries, to pit boss conduct, casino cage procedures, count room operations, etc. If the casino fails to get a passing grade, or if the casino personel is felt needs more training, the casino is not allowed to open and must go through another Fun Nite before they are allowed to open for "live" gaming.

So, the chips many of you have seen in the various scans, cost the player .05¢ on the dollar to purchase several years ago... or perhaps many of these chips were actually won on the tables during the Fun Nite excersize. It's up to the buyers to determine what they are willing to pay to add some of these neat pieces to their collections.
