Re: Best room rates in Vegas, where?

You are looking in the right places Luke. Making a selection from one of those web reservation sites mainly depends on how much you gamble. If you don't gamble at all, you can get relatively inexpensive accomodations at regular motel/hotel places that don't have casinos in them. If you gamble AT ALL, where ever you choose to stay, the second thing you want to do (after checking in to the hotel) is GET A PLAYERS CARD, and use it everytime you play ANY game in that casino! If you choose a moderately priced place to stay, and you also gamble along the same lines, when you are ready to check out of the hotel, ask for an adjustment on your hotel bill based on your player rating. If you haven't asked for meal comps at the tables, you should be able to get your room rate reduced or comp'd. Don't checkout by TV if you don't have a comp'd or discounted room. Go to the desk and ASK the clerk if there is a casino host that might take a look at your players card in order to adjust your room charges. If you don't ask, you won't get it. If you don't use your accumulated comp points for meals and/or drinks during a visit, even when you get the asked for reduced rate at check out, you'll get invitations in the mail for rooms that are free, or at a very low cost for your next visit.

...I hope that made sense! I've been to Vegas 14 times in the last 14 months, ended up paying full reservation price for the room once. ...I usually stayed for free. Let them know who you are by playing with the casino's player's card.
