As entertaining as this exchange is, I'll make a guess on the 3 circles. Bud Jones uses injection molding for the plastic part of the chip. The 3 circles are probably the locations of the 3 tubes where the hot plastic is injected into the mold. I've heard that Bud Jones has a buffing process that smoothes or polishes the finished chip, but these small indentations may have been below the surface and so remained on the chip.

BTW, I have seen similar injection holes on other chip molds, particularly the lightweight, cheaper chips, but don't recall it on BJ chips specifically, though haven't looked at my collection.

Whaddaya think?
