Re: Yep, Arab chip is a crest and seal chip.

<<The Arab chip has a shiny inlay and a sheen of sorts over the clay (it is well used).>> What does 'sheen of sorts' mean? If it means that there originally was a relatively thick celluloid layer, then I would agree that it is a crest and seal as we popularly know a crest and seal to be. However, the fact that the backs are worn off on ALL chips leads me to believe there never was a protective 'seal'. I hope you agree that "Prince of Wales" is a crest and seal TYPE oy Litho inlay chip, wferas the "florida Palms" is a true crest and seal (again, crest and seal as we popularly definea crest and seal to be). Not having these chips in my hands but only from reading your auction, I would say these arabs are more "Prince of Wales" than "Florida Palms". Do you agree?

<<The Arab chip pictured below (just a different color than the ones in my auction) is worth more than the two you show put together>> If there is only one known that is in good condition, I would agree with you. So What? If there were 50 known yellow arabs and there were only 100 known CCDM, I would say the CCDM would easily be worth more. ALL things being equal, a "true" crest and seal would be worth more than a litho inlay. Most all litho onlays (except for Nevada casinos) are generic. Most crest and seals are not generic (exceptions such as Florida Plams, Sailing Ships)

<<Rich Hanover likes the thin, round-edged, shiny-surfaced Crest and Seal chips like the CCDM one pictured in his post in this thread.>> The only accurate part was the "shiny surface" part. I have numerous reeded edged as well as square edged crest and seals.

I happen to collect generic litho inlays as well. My only point was that they are being advertised as crest and seals. My question is: are they crest and seals. As I asked above, if you can state that these chips originally had a protective clear layer over the inlay, then, yes they are crest and seals. If this is not a clear question, then answer this: are the arabs more like "Majestic" or "Florida Palms".

I don't have these chips, so I don't know. BTW, I have been told by others that they are litho inlays NOT crest and seals, hence my doubts.
