Re: CHIP CHAT QUESTION

Hi Mike & Donna,
You requested information about "Chip Chat". I will try to answer all your questions:

"Chip Chat" is published upon no set schedule. Doug tries to get out more than a couple of issues a year but sometimes other projects get in the way <g>.

The reasons why Doug gets more money than any other dealer for chips in his auction is because of the information he provides. The information includes history, quantity available, condition, etc. Many of Dougs readers ARE NOT on this board or involved with the internet at all.

Doug spends considerable time researching each one of the chips featured in his magazine. He takes publishing very serious. He does not allow guest articles or other writers to contribute. The reason is Doug does not want to take responsibility for what others write.

He does take chips for consignment. However, the conditions are very tight and often discourage those with borderline material or large quantities.

Doug has been one of my closest chip friends. He has taught me much about chips; but more importantly "How" to research the history behind the little pieces of clay.

If you wish to get all the enjoyment you can from our hobby. If you look at a chip and wonder about it. If you love history in general and chip history in particular than you should subscribe to "Chip Chat".

You can reach Doug at 1-619-296-3502. If no answer leave a message and he will get back to you. You may also send a check for $18.00 for the next six issues to:

Chip Chat
4056 Front Street
San Diego, California 92103

You will not be sorry and you will be watching your mail box for the next issue. Currently Chip Chat #19 is out. It features chips from the Alamo Club in Pioche, Nevada. The rarest Desert Inn chip. The Carver House 50 cent chip, etc. Hope this answers your questions. Best, Jim
