Re: How can anyone make a decision now?

Charlie; Please allow me to correct one portion of your post. The election is not "almost a year away." The SWEARING IN of the new officers will take place in June, 2001 .... either at the Orleans, or at Tropicana.... but the actual election will take place long before we get to Las Vegas. Below is the appropriate sections of the club's Constitution regarding the procedure for the upcoming elections:

B) Nominations for officers shall be called for by written notification to all members in good standing not later than 180 days prior to the Club's next annual meeting in an election year. In order for a potential candidate to be declared an official nominee in any club election for office, the candidate must receive the equivalent of a nomination and a second in order to be listed on the official ballot as a valid candidate. To accomplish this requirement, a candidate must receive a minimum of two nominations.

("Not later than 180 days prior to the club's next annual meeting ...." could also mean earlier than 180 days prior ...... which will probably be the case if the announcement is going to be published in the club magazine.)

C) Election ballots will be mailed to each member in good standing not later than 30 days prior to an election, and shall specify the procedure for casting ballots in advance of the annual meeting.

("Mailed" may be interepreted as ballots enclosed within the quarterly magazine.... with a separate mailing to associates.... or via a special mailing to ALL club members.)

Hope this post has been of some help. The elections are really not that far off. Archie
