Soft soap is what I use and have never had any problems. Just be certain to dry the chips ASAP. Also on chips with gold hot stamping don't scrub the hot stamp too hard or you will remove it. You will find that very badly worn chips look better dirty. Once you remove the dirt you can no longer read many of them.
