Re: eBay auction of "Redwood Lodge" chip

Info(?),

I'm the guy that emailed you, I'm an eBay Power seller, and always like to see a man who's auctions being discussed have a chance to defend himself.

1. I don't think the term "face value" is the issue here. Don't worry about that.

2. Using a private auction to prevent auction interference is a valid reason, in my opinion, but only because emailing a man's bidders is not allowable, by eBay rules, under any circumstances. Anyone who does so can be summarily suspended from eBay. If someone sees a misrepresentation, options to prevent bidders from being "taken" would include emailing the seller and informing him of the facts, and if that does not work, emailing SafeHarbor to report possible seller fraud.

3. The real issue seems to be your description of the Redwood Lodge as a real casino or gambling joint. Apparently, some feel what you have are "fantasy" chips, chips manufactured for retail sale that were never associated with any real casino, and that you know exactly what they are.

Since you present such a detailed story behind the chips, it should be pretty easy to prove that what you say about their history is true. Surely, you would not GUESS, or make up a story to increase the perceived value of the chips? That would clearly be FRAUD, wouldn't it?

So, Where IS the Redwood Lodge? What state, what county? That should settle it, and shut these "Chip Police" up.

Of course, as quick as I was to email you a link to this discussion, I will be twice as quick to email SafeHarbor and report this fraudulent description if you are unwilling or unable to substantiate your description.

An alternative would be to cancel all bids, end the auction, and relist the chips with an honest description (Fantasy Chips from a club that never existed), which I'm sure you'll do if you cannot back up your description with facts. The difference in value between "fantasy" chips and true obsolete casino chips is tremendous, and if you didn't know the difference at the time you wrote your description, you do now, and continueing the auction with the current description woudl be ..... well .... fraud.
