(ncr & long) Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk ...

... successfully completed!! Albeit with a few blisters and some sore muscles.

It was an incredible event -- 3000+ walkers who raised more than $6 million net for use in breast cancer causes.

There are still three of these events scheduled for this year:
Atlanta, Los Angeles and New York

Nine of them will be held next year.

Anyone who is interested in participating can find complete information at:

http://www.breastcancer3day.org/

My daughter Risa, son Sean and I all signed up for next year's SF walk already. And we will probably expand the family participation to include my other two sons and perhaps some "significant others", as well as my sister-in-law Penny who plans to travel to SF to walk.

Will post some pictures after we get them processed.

Thanks, Jim Episale, for asking about our sponsorships. We did all exceed the minimum $1800 per person in donations. I chose not to post/solicit here this year; with a larger walker group next year (and the same basic donation base), I may change my mind and ask here, too! <g>

BTW, a San Francisco Examiner reporter saw our t-shirts (made up specially for the event with a picture of my wife on them) and included a very nice reference to her. It read:

> The real heroes of the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day that started in Cupertino and
> finished in San Francisco weren't even there.

> Women like ... Sandra Kay Douglas Reilly of Tiburon. By the time she passed
> away at 51, she had been through five rounds of chemotherapy, three rounds of
> radiation, a mastectomy, a bone marrow transplant and drugs with very long
> names. While she took care of her four children and was dying, she also
> earned a bachelor's degree and went on for her master's. Her husband and two
> of her children joined the walk in shirts that carried a giant picture of her
> with the words, "Never Give Up."

Will be getting back to more active participation here and in club activities now. ----- jim o\-S
