Hi Don,

Short term (30 seconds maybe) exposure to the fumes from some of these solvents, not on a daily basis, won't hurt you. More frequent exposure most certainly will. The petro-chemical based adhesives that I use in my business expose me to the fumes from acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, ethyl acetate and toluene to name a few, all day long, every day. Before I figured out what was causing it, exposure to those fumes used to make my eyes puff up to the point that they'd swell shut. My doctor thought it was some kind of infection caused by bacterial agents. It wasn't. It was chemical fumes. Only use these chemicals in well ventilated places!
