Scrounging - Nevada's Rarest $2.50

"Scrounging" is the art of hanging out & seeing if you can locate obsolete chips. It's been my practice the last few years to go to the Reno/Tahoe area before the convention fot this very purpose.

This year it was my good fortune to find two previously unknown chips from Northern Nevada. I found three of one and one of the other. The single chip my well among Nevada's rarest $2.50 chips. Prior to this time, the existence of this denomination in this series was unknown. The chip is about 50 years old. The other chip, of which a total of six are known to exist, reads "PLAYABLE ONLY AT GAMING AREAS" and is a $1 denom.

If you're curious, that was the intent !! Please stop by Table 62. Also, it might be interesting to post your idea of the scarcest $2.50 Nevada chip you either are aware of or have in your collection.

I'll posts scans of both of these neat chips when I return home after the convention.

Can't wait til Wednesday...although the sky in Lake Tahoe today was the most gorgeous blue I've ever seen...and not a cloud anywhere.
