Jim; I agree with you. At $160, the Scarlet Wagon $1 chip is way undervalued. I bought mine from Al Zaika who was disposing of Andy Gazsi's collection maybe 15 years ago, when I first began collecting Nevada chips. Probably paid all of $3 for it at the time. However, I wouldn't degrade the Hard Rock Cinco De Mayo chip..... nor the L.E. collectors who are interested in adding it to their chip collections.... and Hard Rock collectors who are bidding to add it to their Hard Rock collections.

Jim, I need not remind you that there are many new collectors who collect these Limited Edition new issues and who have little interest in the classics from yesteryear that you, I, and others have come to appreciate. Fifteen years from now, the Cinco De Mayo will be considered a "classic" from this present era.... if it is not already considered so. The only reason the Scarlet Wagon chip was not an "instant" rarity, as the Cinco de Mayo chip has become, is that there were relatively few chip collectors around when it was avaiable, contrasted to the thousands of new issues chip collectors who are seeking out tomorrow's rarities today.

You say that you wouldn't pay face value for one? I bid over $200 for the Cinco De Mayo chip that was offered to readers of this bulletin board. I was not successful with my bid... but my offer still stands if anyone else has one for sale.... but then I guess that makes me "one of those who don't know any better". <g>

Jim; When it comes to Hard Rock "stuff", don't underestimate what collectors who specialize in Hard Rock material are willing to pay for THEIR memorabilia. Hard Rock chips are just a small part of their scope. They probably think that $160 for an "ugly" (in their eyes) $1 Scarlet Wagon hot stamp chip, that has no attractive graphic design, is an outrageous price to pay and that many chip collectors are nuts. <g>
