Some qualms about the "ivory" set
In Response To: Interesting Ivory Set on Ebay ()

About the ivory set on eBay. I find it nice mainly for the wood rack/boxes. (See link to the auction below). I am troubled some by the following:

(1) It doesn't see very complete, what with only 30 chips on average per box. (Still, a lot of sets are sold with less markers.)
(2) I wonder if the chips are bone and not ivory. Typically, these sets come in chips of four different colors, one color for each box. Here the chips are all white (natural). And most of these sets (99+%) have thin bone chips. These are thin. I almost never see plain (uncolored/unscrimshawed) ivory chips, and I almost never see thin ivory chips -- i.e., dime thin. Many dealers do not know the difference between bone and ivory, just like they call anything that is not gold, silver or wood -- bakelite.
(3) not such a big deal, but I am surprised to see the boxes having two suit signs. Usually there is a different suit for each of the four boxes.

But again, the wood rack/boxes seems nice.
