Re: Dinner and Women at Mel's
In Response To: Re: Dinner at Mel's ()

Hi Mel; Your post intrigued me somewhat..... and got me thinking to how relevent your observation was regarding female involvement in the chip hobby, vs. other hobbies. While Katie is definitely one of the more "visible", or should I say more "vocal" females (at least on this bb).... there are quite a few female chippers in this hobby compared to say coin collecting.... probably more than is realized.

While I don't profess to know the demographic makeup of our club membership, I would say that based on past attendance to our national conventions there are relatively fewer African-Americans, Asians, Hispanic, and foreign (outside U.S.)collectors than females. By far I would assume, and I hope without too much contradiction or controversy, that our chip group is mostly a U.S. white-male oriented group.... as are most other mainstream hobby groups in this country.
