It's hard for me to explain, but take for example a chip with 4 inserts. Hold it where the inlay is level and straight up. If the inserts are in the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions it looks better than if they were in the 1, 4, 7 and 10 o'clock positions. Does that make better sense?
