...instead of the chip, something is happening Don. I haven't been able to detect any color other than red leeching into plastic flips, maybe something about that color of dye. It isn't limited to one chip manufacturer, Chipcos and Paulson chips both deposit red dye inside plastic flips. The flip I illustrated in our previous discussion was one dual flip out of a page of ten that had held two chips for about 8 months. Here's a scan of the rest of that page of dual flips. There were no circumstances where the chips were left on a dashboard, or any other situation that exposed them to high temperatures or direct sunlight. I've got a couple dozen flips with dye residue on them from chips from all over the place. There is a definite chemical reaction going on here, and it can't be good for long-term chip storage.
