Re: MGM in A.C. and Other Areas......
In Response To: MGM in A.C. ()

Here are my thoughts on what MGM may do in AC and other areas:

Atlantic City---
I happen to agree with Archie, they will go ahead with the Marina Project and "back-burner" the boardwalk in the immediate future. I also feel that they may INCREASE the size of the project to 2000+ rooms or more.
MGM like BIG things and one BIG hotel is better than TWO small ones!! The Boyd partnership....I'm not sure?? As for the site on the Boardwalk, they could keep it for awhile and see how things go and develop it later OR sell it to another operator (Mandalay, hint...hint), take the cash to help build in the Marina.
I'm also pretty sure that Wynn snapped up the old AC Dunes site when he wasn't sure if the Marina land deal would go through. If Mirage still owns that parcel, they can sell it and get even more cash to build.

Mississippi---
Since MGM is a "high-roller" joint, they may not keep the Beau Rivage especially if it continues to disappoint in earnings.........this is the place that Wynn SHOULD have built in AC!!!!!

Nevada----
Same goes for the Golden Nugget's....both in Vegas and Laughlin. If either are a cash cow, they'll keep it........a vacuum, they'll dump.
MGM also didn't like it's partnership in NYNY so it's likely it won't like the partnership in the Monte Carlo (with Mandalay). That place IS a cash cow so it will be interesting who will end up with it?? Imagine MGM owning everything on the west side of the strip from Treasure Island to NYNY with the exception of Caesars! Maybe a bargaining chip for some AC land........???? We'll see.......Just some speculation on my part.
