Poker Buttons...What are these?

Hi:

I purchased this set of poker buttons in an antique mall. The price tag read "Casino Hold 'Em Poker Designation Buttons". The red ones are thick & heavy and appear to be made of some type of hard rubber. They are the same obverse & reverse. The blue & yellow buttons are thin, made of plastic, the lettering is incused, the reverses are white & black respectively. I can figure the use of the red "player returning" button but the yellow "present" & blue "absent" buttons have me scratching my head. It would seem obvious that the player's chair is either occupied or not. Why would the game need a button? As for the last button, what is a "blind"? Is this a poker term? Any explaination would be appreciated! BTW, the yellow button is not notched, just a lousy scan. (Yup, I'm playing with my scanner. Guess who is not home today.)

Thanks,

Dave
