Re: Why a 50c Nevada token?
In Response To: Why a 50c Nevada token? ()

In 1966-67 casinos were required to change from US coin to tokens in dollar slots and the reg was weasily on lower denoms , especially the half dollar since no one wanted to deal with half dollars expanded demand at any mint. So they told casinos to do tokens.....then when they did, the government decided that since there were few half dollar machines....back to coin. Collecting these is a great and limited SPECIALTY:
Fifty Centers:
Aladdin, Bonanza,Caesers, CalClub,Carson Nugget Cal Neva,Desert Inn. Diamond Jims (classic)....Dunes, El Cortez,Four Queens, Frontier, Golden Gate,Golden Nuggget, Hacienda,Harolds,Harveys ,Holiday,Landmark,Las Vegas Club,Mapes, Mint,Ponderosa,,Riverside,Sahara,Showboat,Silver Nugget,Silver Slipper
Then in 1969 John Ascuagas Famous Golden Chicken at the Nugget,Sparks
An original mint set was made with all the above, and
Daytona Beach Kenner, Fabulous Flagler, Greyhound Park in silver color rather than brass in the preceeding.
Notice I also have the following added to my collection over 30 years:
Reef Casino (Silver) Klondike Casino (brass,) Great Canadian, Tower,
Sheraton Aruba, Freeport Bahamas, El Casino 1968 and the last was the Leelanau Sands Casino in 1991
The Nevada half dollar brass are most collectible and if I can help anyone get a start, I have duplicates of most of the above and NEED TO GET RID OF AS MANY AS I CAN.....What I need is another proof set.....Thanks Mel
