Confusing E-bay Descriptions...(LONG)

is what I keep finding. However this one is a real problem as I've tried to get it straight with the seller, although I think she is still confused by BOOMTOWN.

Here's the thread.

Limited Edition $10 Gaming Token Boomtown
Item #258453284

>>>This is a Limited Edition Ten Dollar Gaming Token from Boomtown, Nevada. .999 Fine Silver. Picture of a a cowboy boot on one side and a Goldminer on the other.>>>

My Question:

There isn't a town in Nevada named Boomtown. Could you check the token. It should say either Las Vegas, Nevada or Reno, Nevada. My guess with your description it should be Las Vegas.

Thanks
Marv

----------------------------------------------------

No, It is Boomtown, It is just out side of Reno. Boomtown is the casino not the town.

It is Reno not Las Vegas

-----------------------------------------------------
Hi,

Could you double check this token for me?

There is(was) another Bordertown casino. It is now called Silvertown. The
reason I asked the question is that your description:

>>>This is a Limited Edition Ten Dollar Gaming Token from Boomtown, Nevada. .999 Fine Silver. Picture of a a cowboy boot on one side and a Goldminer on the other.>>>

you have here is fits the Boomtown Las Vegas casino token. I've never seen a
Boomtown Reno(actually Verdi, NV) with a Goldminer on it. The Boomtown Las
Vegas token does.

Did you actually check the token before writing me back? Just a another
question not being snide, just wanting to make absolutely sure. If it's a Las
Vegas token, the token on the side with the Boot will have the words:

BOOMTOWN
Las Vegas * Casino * Hotel * RV Park
Las Vegas, Nevada

and the boot will be on the right side of the words. I could send you a scan
of the Las Vegas Boomtown token if you like.

Thanks Again,
Marv

It is Boomtown, that is correct. That was before the name was changed. But
not LV, Reno

HERE IS THE THING, IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BID ON IT. I
DON'T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE TO SAY IT IS BOOMTOWN.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

WELL, not wanting to argue with this seller I did bid and win the lot tonight.

I BET IT IS REALLY A BOOMTOWN LAS VEGAS TOKEN WHICH I HAVE PICTURED HERE. The one on the left.

The seller also wrote me as soon as the auction was over. Here was my LONG reply.

----------------------------------------------------

Hi,

Yes, it's me again(Marv Weaver). I just had to bid on this item, due to your description.

I hope you do understand what I've been saying. There are TWO Nevada casino's named Boomtown that have issued these types of tokens. (One in Vegas and one in Reno and there are two more Boomtown casino's in Biloxi, MS and New Orleans, LA which also have these types of tokens)

To date, there has never been a token issued from the Boomtown casino in Reno(Verde) with a Goldminer or what I call a Panner.

It will be interesting to see what the token you send me looks like.

The Boomtown casino in Las Vegas did issue a token with a Goldminer on it, however the logo side of the token is different from the Boomtown Reno token in that the Reno tokens have the Logo of a small Stagecoach. And have the two different reverse side designs of a large boot and a Stagecoach. The Las Vegas Boomtown token has a small boot on the Logo side with two different reverse's one of a Goldminer and one of a Motorhome.

Here's a link to pictures of the two different Boomtown casino tokens I have on my web site for you to see.

There have been some instances where token dies from same named casino's have been mixed up creating a different variety. This might be what you have here, if so I am surprised more haven't surfaced yet.

I know you, are affirmed that it is a Boomtown Reno, token but since there wasn't a scan on the auction I can only confirm it by the purchase. I am still confused, but that's not too unusual for me with regard to Nevada Silver Strike tokens.

I would like to have you send the token "Priority Mail" for which I'll pay the additional postage charge. I'll send you a Postal Money order for $25.00 as Priority Mail costs $3.20.. Priority mailers are free at the post office.

Thanks again, I hope I haven't bored you with this information.
