If Pete wanted to attack Rene based on his country of origin, I'd think he would have mocked Rene by inserting German words that are pronounced the same in English and German like "mein" and "mine" which Rene regularly gets confused.

I thought Pete acted with a great deal of reserve after being called ignorant and stupid, and later, an idiot.

When Pete said he was sorry that Rene thought he (Rene) was his (Pete)competition, I thought that was a brilliant way to respond to being called ignorant. It went right over Rene's head. I got it. Rene didn't..........
