Who's crying? Not the Members here! (Long)
In Response To: Stop the crying ()

Hello Mike,

Seems like you're the one who is doing the crying here.

You state ""members" selling off the same chips for 9 times MORE then some of the others." This is an open forum. How about posting those sales here on this BB when you find them. Most of the collectors here ARE doing their best to protect not only the sellers, the buyers and future new collectors as well.

Many of the members(CC>CC) here are mainly interested in the hobby and want to see it grow? Don't you? Some seller's(and some members) do ask too much(IMO) for their items. However, the important part of selling is truth in advertising and is where the members here have their concern.

After each question ask yourself, "IS THIS GOOD FOR OUR HOBBY?"

1) For someone who collect's silver and are not a casino silver strike collector and is told in an auction description regarding a $10 Nevada Silver Strike(SPT) that the item is .999 Pure silver and weighs 1.2 oz or is larger than a silver dollar, when in reality the token only contains just over 1/2 ounce pure silver?

2) Is it proper to state that an item is "RARE" or "SCARCE" when 10,000 exist in relation ship to maybe half that number or less are actual collectors?

3) Is it proper to state that something is "used in a movie" when in reality it wasn't.

4) Is it proper for an unknowing seller to offer "Fantasy Chips" without describing them as such?

I, as a minor collector of some casino chips, don't think it was right when a seller offered $1,000,000.00 in "CASINO CHIPS" and didn't describe them as "Fantasy Chips", or what I prefer to call them "FAKE CHIPS".

In most cases the seller doesn't really know or understand what they have. It can also be the old story of story after story being told about an item being handed down and we all know how the story can get changed from one person to another to another and so on. Essentially ALL of the Silver Strike seller's I've contacted have been very pleasurable to correspond with and have thanked me for giving them more info regarding the tokens.

If you have read many of Archie's messages here, he has a MAJOR concern with some of "OUR OWN" and I quote:

".....this unknowlegeable seller has changed the description of his chips. Some of these sellers seem to be following the lead of experienced chippers and adopt their habits. If "we" (meaning knowlegeable chippers in general) would clean up our own act, perhaps some of those less informed will do the same."

So it seem as though at least one member is concerned with "MEMBERS" just as you are.

However, I don't see it as you so put it, "I have never seen so many adults sit around crying.", They are not crying! They are taking action! They are making this hobby one worthwhile and fun for all. It's a large internet world here and they are doing their BEST!

The only real cry baby's we see are those sellers who have been contacted who get upset about being contacted when they already knew what they have. And I do believe those people are a VERY VERY small MINORITY.
