Welcome to this fascinating hobby and to thechipboard.com in particular "K".

Your disillusionment with that e-bay seller misrepresenting a common chip to be "rare" is not typical of the majority of those who are in the mainstream of this hobby. There is nothing wrong with making an honest buck by selling chips to other collectors at a profit. It's part of the "big picture" of this hobby of chip collecting. Unfortunately, there are those among us who seem to feel that they must resort to misrepresentation and deceit in order to sell thier chips. You have just learned a valuable lesson. Record that dealers name for posterity and vow never to purchase anything he/she offers in the future. Fortunately you were not the high bidder on that $31 rip-off.

As for your follow-up post alluding that these Buggsy commemorative chips are not collectible; that's a false assumption. They are legitimate collectibles. They are simply not worth $31 each however.... and never will be. There were thousands of these chips made. Certainly not in the "rare" category that this particular e-bay seller misrepresented them to be.

Hang in there "K" and give the hobby a chance. Once you get to make aquaintances with the many reputable people in this hobby, you too will catch the fever that has joyfully overtaken many chippers on this bb.
